BBC reports the event lead to the incident at secret research facility.

There’s a new virus being spread from the unknown underground research facility. Our DNA suddenly evolves into something new we don’t know of a new type of abomination horror. The dead start crawling upon the surface. Our government is only possible to cure 1\4 of our human population in the world. What will happen to the rest of the people? What will the government do when there is no more space in hell, and the dead will walk earth?

The room is dark and the camera shows the clock tick at 6:30. peaceful Ria and Luis sleeping in the bed. Suddenly Luis heard someone opened door and woke up. Luis saw neighbor’s daughter staying in front of the door and his presence told him there is something wrong. The camera shows Luis and the infected little girl’s face with blood dripping. Nasty zombie bites Luis in the neck, Ria jumped out of the bed and threw the little girl on the floor and closed the door. Camera close up on Luis face where he hemorrhage to death. Ria is trying to call for help but the dial is busy, slowly Luis crawling up from the bed. Camera follows continuity Ria rushing into toilet room and escaped through the window. Camera transition screen shows the whole city is under chaos and affliction. A shoulder shoot shows Ria took the car and drove away with a camera following POV. 

24 hours after the impact the resistance groups are forced to isolate the whole city and terminate the infected. Camera showing from helicopter view Ria trying to escape the place. Upon driving someone tried to break into Ria’s car. Ria was forced to drive the car off the highway and crashed the car. Camera close up showing Ria woke up and went out of the car, but still dizzy. A big closeup camera shot of man with a shotgun poiting Ria’s head. It was the police officer, he had to make sure Ria wasn’t biten.They met other survivors upon walking. Together they breached into a mall. Camera follows the group of survivors walking and clearing the mall, later where they secured all doors. They took the lift upstairs to check the rest of the floor. The camera with a shoulder shot showing they stopped at the security floor. Camera showing 3 security appears with gun loaded and pointed at them. At the top of the roof they meet the survivor Andy on the roof of his own gun store. Day passes and Andy is out of out food and supply. The rest of the survivors have to get Andy rescued and get help. Later on they found 2 buss in the parking lot, together they rebuilt them with reinforced spikes and drove off the mall. They took off the boat and made it into land. They are desperate after help. Camera showing from live recording POV, and heard some noise. The abomination start running towards our survivors and the scene ends with camera dropping on the ground while still recording the zombies with dutch angle.

We have now accomplished Digital Acting 2. It’s now time to move on to the next schedule. Which will be Storytelling and cinematography. What we will be doing is to write down ideas as much as possible within 30mins.

The story is set two centuries back in time. Kunnavang became evil, and betrayed the imperial. He was once the imperial’s left right hand. Kunnavang got slayed by 2 faction leaders where the story takes place. He then turned sea into jade and land into stone. Both leaders got killed by kunnavang’s immortal madness. What will we do to bring back our world?

Treatment

1.       Camera showing the clock ticking at 6:30. Peaceful Ria and Luis sleeping in the bed. Suddenly husband heard noise and woke up.

2.       Camera showing infront of him. Seeing neighbor’s daughter staying infront the door where no light can cast through.

3.       Camera zooming(close-up). Into the little girls face. She took a step forward and Luis got shocked. He went off the bed and asked what happend.

4.       Camera transition(screen) The little girl bite Luis in neck and animates Luis into another flesh living corpse abomination.

5.       Camera follows(continuity) Ria running into toilet room. And she barely escaped.

6.       Camera transition(screen) showing Ana crawling out of the window. She starts running to her car and start driving away.

7.       Camera showing (POV) when she drives. The whole city is chaos and affected by the virus.

I must admit it’s been awhile since I updated my journal, which is not good! But I had my own reasons, because I had gnomonmaster class for 2 weeks and we still got an extension on our deadlines. If it wasn’t Im sure i wouldn’t even complete my assginments.

I have to say the last assignment was a quite bit of challenge. I was unsure from the start what I should be making. Something cool and not too easy. So I looked it up on youtube and did found something with bruce lee. I found myself interested in his philosophy dialogue in one of the old interview. I think the whole dialogue lasted 30 seconds or something.

One of the hardest problem was to find the sound. Because I searched all over the net and couldn’t find it nowhere. I had to download the video from youtube and convert it into a WAV file which was pain in the ass. There wasn’t quite much free tools that I could use to convert the MP3 file into a WAV.. Since 3dmax only supports WAV file make this more ridiculous.

So back to the animating part. I went blocking this time too. Feel like I had more control after pre assignment we had lip sync. Well I have to admit Im not that good at rough blocking. I kinda go back and forth all the time to check if it match and it’s not bad but I mean its more time consuming. This time I used dope sheet. It makes the job ALOT easier, you could actually time the keys with the frames more accurate. The whole process went actually good, but in the end I had to stay up all night to get it done before the deadline. Because the keyframes was more than I thought. Oh I almost forget to tell you, the lowmax was NOT the best rig I used to lip sync. I didn’t had a choice. So it was either lowmax or make a rig yourself. I also blocked out the phenomes before I started the whole animation. So the next part was only copy and paste left. And to the end it just about to get the rig posed in action. Well ofcourse I did the lip sync before the ”body animation” Mine didn’t contained alot of body, because I spent most of the time animating the lip sync instead, and my sound was so long afterall.

In this assignment we’re going to make a short lip sync animation. Basically we just choose a soundclip from the internet, start blocking out the vowels visemes and trying to find the phonemes. My time is short so I just picked a simple dialogue between Agent Smith and Neo taken from The Matrix.

What I did here is that I tried to block out the sound and vowels and wrote them down by listen to the soundclip back and forth several times, also tried to act myself.. ofcourse.

And inspired me to make my own, heres my result

Posting some emotions and opposite. I just had to deliver it to feel comfortable.. I think that hulk pose was successful because i liked the way it act and the way he focuses on camera. Spent maybe 1-2 hours of making these complete rig and Gif animation.

Here I will be showing my works of this week, and the deadline is near.  Let me introduce you "Big Eared" Du - Big Boss of Shanghai pre 60's 

Sketching
I definitely should have spent more time on sketching part, but unfortunately my time was limited. If I would remake this part I would have sketched everything digitally. I think sketching the props were easiest part. I wasn’t lucky to find any good references. But I kind of had a imagination of my character already before creating it. So basically fifty fifty reference and illustrated right from my mind. So again sketching wasn’t the best part this time.

Character
It was hard to make a choice which one of the character I was after. Because they all look the same gangster in black suite. But I came up with big boss in Shanghai pre 60’s it was only 3 who controlled the whole Shanghai Bund. Big Eared Du also known as Du Yuesheng and Huang Jingrong and the last one... forgot his name(lol) So I picked Big Eared Du and made him a unique look with ancient props. 


Details
I thought giving him a gold rimmed glasses, a chain clock and typical leather shoes will definitely make him looks different than common mob look. It was hard to find good reference of leather shoes so I had to observe mostly of mine pair. The gold rimmed glasses were also extremely hard to find especially when I didn’t knew what it’s called.

Short introduction to the character.
Name: ”Big-Eared” Du (Original name Du YueSheng)
Occupation: Shanghai Bund gangster boss
Age:  64 (1887-1951)

Du Yuesheng was a gangster who spent his life in Shanghai, China. He involved his gang conflict between the communist and nationalists. He joined a gang called ”Green Gang” the most powerful secret society in the Shanghai Bund. Under Du’s leadership, the gangs controlled gambling dens, prostitution and protection rackets. Du also supported the Nationalist government with funding. In return, he was allowed to run labor unions and continue with his drug dealing business. Due to the division in China, the government of Jiang Jie Shi literally controlled most of China. And Jiang Jie Shi had to rely on the local gangs which Du has actually and effective control. 

Our task for today is to act for digital acting. Basically acting out how we would pickup a really smelly piece of cloth. We went into groups and discussed\acted out how we would act and react while trying to lift a nasty cloth. We sketched each others extreme poses into block animation.

We had to render 6 poses of the same pose to explain what’s happening more like a little comic strip storyboard. Then we went into 3Ds max and rigged the Lowmax rig based on our observational sketch. I rigged 4 different poses before I knew it would be only 1 poses with 6 different camera angles. Then I picked up the most detailed pose, without rendering whole pose to pose like in block animation to explain what really is going on. Facial expession is also important with a good line of action explains a simple pose alot.


 

If I had more time I would do something more about the facial expression. Because it tells alot about the story. I used a Mental Ray with a ambient reflection occlusion. Maybe spending more time on references and putting poses in correctly sequences.

Finally got my Col Eraser prismacolor pencils from Amazon in post this week. Couldn't wait to draw with them, and here you see the result! Nice and smooth shaded, but it's to soft to draw with. Still have to get used to it.. It was actually harder to shade and draw the lighting effects.

Hello again. It's been awhile since I updated my blog. But here we go.. Recently drew a few drawings. I spoke with my teacher about drawing styles and techniques. Because I feel my drawings doesn't have a proper style. I want people to recognize my drawings and what represent them. Also that I'm being very preciously and carefully with my drawings is also a positive thing. By the time I draw surreal drawings I could draw even more. But I like the way I draw just not that confident and found my style yet.

I also do like calligraphy either chinese or japanese. I dont do study, but I do like the style and art.

Spent a few hours infront of the computer, sat down and think what I could draw. My optical mouse a logitech.
Another one is drawing of a ancient sculpture.. The result wasn't bad at all in my opinion :)
